1993 Labor Day Association History
The Theme is “Labor Unions are America’s Future”
There will be a Indiana Air Guard Fly over to start the Parade.
Parade co-Grand Marshalls are Indiana Governor Evan Bayh and UMWA International President Richard Trumka.
President Richard Trumka will also be the main speaker on Labor Day.
A new Parade trophy was added this year–one for a Military entry in the Parade.
The Labor Day Association will have a 1 hour TV show on Evansville’s Channel 7, featuring the Parade.
Roger Myers presented plaques to the Labor Day Association Officers for 1992 for their work in making the Celebration a success.
New flags and Buntings are ordered for decorating the Parade route streets and fairgrounds.
D & P Amusement of Newburgh, Indiana will provide the Carnival Rides.
Sara Major will sing the National Anthem for the arena events.
Labor Day Association Dues are $2.00 per working Member.
Mike Faries will do the Labor day Photos.
This is the 1st time since 1942 we had the Celebration in Vanderburgh County Coal mining was outlawed in Evansville, IN so because of that and the fact that the majority of the Association locals were UMWA locals, no Celebration was held in Vanderburgh County until this year.
