1987 Labor Day Association History
The Dues will be $4.00 for Labor Day Association members.
The Queen Pageant as we know it today was started in the 1950’s. This years Queen’s Float super structure was built by Gary Eads from UMWA # 5179. Don & Shirley Fritz recovered it this year.
UMWA Local # 1791 won all 8 events this year in the Labor Day Battle–this is a first.
Motion to cancel Joke Telling Contest and replace it with a Labor Rally.
Plumbers & Steam Fitters # 136 will furnish a hot dog cooker for the Labor Rally.
The City of Boonville has declared “Solidarity Week” in Boonville over Labor Day Weekend.
Discussion to bring a speaker in from Pittston, Pa to speak about their UMWA Strike there.
Motion to have the 1988 Celebration in Princeton, Indiana and then alternate it as in the past with Boonville, Indiana.
