Special arrangements were made for trains, traction lines and steamboats to enable people to come to the Celebration
Vincennes IN. had a 100 mile motocycle race and Washington, IN had a Labor Day picnic.
The Carpenters Union # 90 held their own Celebration at West Heights Park in Evansville, IN.
There will not be a Parade this year and there will not be any sale of Liqour in the Park.
There were many athletic events held over the Celebration among the Union members on the grounds.
Results of some of the athletic events;
Fifty Yard Dash for boys–Frank Finen–Prize was admission to Cook’s Electric Park.
Fifty Yard Dash for young women–Miss Rudy Woolsey–Prize was a $6.00 parasol.
Lean Men’s Race–Alvin Blair–Prize was one suit of cloths cleaned and pressed.
Watermelon Eating Contest for Boys–Breman Greyson–Prize is a new hat.
Fat Men’s Race–A. Brown–Prize was a case of Cook’s beer.
Little Girl’s Race–Rosa Hartman, Emma Schlachter, Elizabeth Reitz &
Mildred Ripplemeter–Prize each girls got a doll
Girl’s Race–Valeda Wilhelm–Prize was a case of Coca-Cola.
